In 1993, Bob and Nancy Kearney
approached Monsignor Doskey with
the idea of putting on shows at
St. Pius X. Msgr Doskey
gave his blessing and the St.
Pius X Players were born.
The summer of 1994 brought the
first show,
The Music
Man,
to the stage. The show was
received so well that The
Players have made the
productions an annual event.
In 1996, the theater
construction went underway on the
new facility, the Fr. A.T.
Screen Gym and has hosted productions ever since.
Aside from a few years
when the Players were "dark" and
did not produce a show, every
summer friends and family around
the community come together and
work hard to put on great family
entertainment.
Bob Kearny was the director and
heart of The Pius Players’
productions.
Every show was filled
with Bob’s hard work, strong
opinion, over the top support,
and an occasional lawn dart.
It was through his
personal success that made The
Pius Players’ productions a
great sensation.
In May of 2002, Bob
passed away and his wife, Nancy
took over with the help of the
“Pius Family”.
In honor of Bob, The
Players' summer production was
rightfully entitled The Best
of Bob (B.O.B.), a tribute
to all of the shows previously
directed by Bob.
Since then, Nancy has
taken the reins of The Players
and proven that she’s more than
just “a pretty face” and
actress; she’s a darn good
Director too!
Her love and support of
who The Players are and what
they aspire to be are only
proven by her prodigious
productions.
Every year Nancy and The Pius
Players eagerly await the new
talent in need of the spotlight.
Please contact us for more
